I was approached by a fellow blogger, that many of you know as Alison from The Fashion Doll Review, to work on 3 Steffie commissions.
I was going to wait to share all 3 at once, but I'm just too impatient.
(^_^)
Each one is to be inspired by Nicki Minaj's style.
So, I went looking for inspiration based on what Alison and I discussed.
Here is her "Before" shot.
She is a Birthstone Beauty Amethyst Barbie.
*~*~*~*~*
We decided on "Seaweed" from Restoredoll.com for her new hair color.
(Here she is pre-part and style.)
Now for the styling of her hair I needed some inspiration, and found this picture...
(Not my image.)
I liked the longer waves but not the bangs.
So after futher discussion, Amethyst Steffie ended up looking like this...
(She was a blast to style, as many of you know, I LOVE experimenting with colors.)
(Full body shot.)
(And the side by side comparison.)
(^_^)
Back to work I go....
Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to read my blog.
I really appreciate each of you. <3

Such a pretty girl! Does give me the Nicki Minaj vibe but also a mermaid kind of vibe too! Good luck on the rest!
ReplyDeleteThank you Verona! (^_^) I agree with you on both observations. And thank you for the luck!
DeleteGreat job Cat! I love the color and style.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have a lot of fun working with this color. (^_^) *hugs*
DeleteYour job is marvelous! :)
ReplyDeleteAw Thank you Nyu!! (^_^)
DeleteAmethyst Steffie seems pleased of her new hairstyle!
ReplyDeleteExperimenting is cool ;-)
I think she is Sergio. (^_^) Thank you for stopping by!! **BIG HUGS**
DeleteHello from Spain, i know Allison about her blog. She does a great Job with interestings post. I really like your work with Steffi. The green hair is very nice. I also like the waves of hair. I can not wait to see the other to proposals. Keep in touch
ReplyDeleteShe does do an excellent job, and I am having a lot of fun working with her on these Steffie dolls. Thank you so much for the kind words and for stopping by. (^_^)
DeletePretty ! Love that color. When you reroot, do you use the knot method or a reroot tool and glue ?
ReplyDeleteThank you Ken! (^_^) I use the knot method (I make every plug by hand). No glue for this gal.
DeleteShe is fantastic Cat! I absolutely adore her hair color :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what the other 2 look like when your done.
Thank you Miranda! I'm excited to finish the other two so that I can share. You will be seeing 1 or 2 more next week. (^_^) *hugs*
DeleteWow, she looks fantastic! A superstar is born. :)
ReplyDeleteAww!!! Thank you so much Adrian!! (^_^)
DeleteSuch beautiful work as always! I can't wait to see the rest. I really don't like Nicki Minaj but I love her style. She's like a Japanese doll.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dani!! Nicki Minaj's off the wall style and color choices are what pull me in. Gotta agree with you there. (^_^)
DeleteWhoot! What a joyful dolly you have created! You and Alison must be having heaps of fun collaborating on her dolls. ^_^
ReplyDeleteThank you!! (^_^) These girls are definitely going to be some of my favorites. I enjoy re-rooting in various colors a lot more than basic "naturally" occurring hair colors. It just takes certain dolls to pull off the "fantasy" colors. Alison has an excellent eye for Steffie, and for hair color!
DeleteWow! I can hardly believe, is amazing! She is a new 'person'!
ReplyDeleteCongrats for this beautiful work. ;)
Thank you very much Eliana! (Is that your real name? It's beautiful!) I have enjoyed her transformation to!! Thank you again for the lovely comment. (^_^)

ReplyDeleteThat made me smile so big!! Thank you! (^_^)
DeleteYour doll re-roots have caused me to fall in love with Barbie dolls all over again.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to try my hand at re-rooting sometime; how did you achieve these crimps without melting her hair?
Oh my goodness! That is an amazing compliment, thank you so much! (^_^)
DeleteFor the crimps, I used Saran hair to re-root her, and then I put her hair in small braids. I brought water (on a stove) to a boil, then turned off the heat. Once the boiling stopped, I poured the extremely hot water over the braids. And directly after pouring the hot water over her hair, place her head under cold water for a minute or so. You have to let them dry for a couple days while still in braids. Then, take the hair down, and you should have crimps. :)
*So you don't fry the hair, you can pour a quick splash of the hot water over the braids, and then place her under cold water. And repeat the step until you feel your crimps are set.
I hope that helps!
Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such a wonderful comment! Good luck!
