I'm on FIRE! (^_^)

 On fire for re-rooting!
(^_^)

I know, you must have envisioned me typing a blog entry while on fire....
No?

Yeah, neither did I. ;)

Okay, so I have completed quite a few re-roots in a short span of time.
And there doesn't appear to be an end in sight.

So here are some of the newest transformations...

(She is for my personal collection, and started out as a Barbie Basics Model #4. I re-rooted her in "Bittersweet" from Restoredoll.com)

(I named her Gillian.)

She started as a Top Model Hair Wear Teresa, and she was re-rooted with Black Orchid from Restoredoll.com.

Here are a couple more pictures of the finished re-root...

(This was a commission for April.)

(This gal is also for my personal collection, and was formerly a Rio de Janeiro Lea.)

Unfortunately I don't have a "Before and After" shot of her.
(Not my image.)

In the theme of Lea dolls....

(This is for my personal collection, and she was an Amazing Nails Lea.)

Here are a couple more shots of her...

(Her outfit was what I refer to as a fashion risk, but it grew on me.)

The next gal is more of a Kayla/Lea. To be more specific she was a Mermaid Kayla.

Here is her "Before" shot.

And this is her after.

I liked her in orange, but it was horrible quality hair.
So, I replaced her hair with saran, and made the length shorter.

That covers most of my re-rooting craziness for now.

However, I have 4 in the works (commissions).
I may try to squeeze another one of my own in, as I am STILL trying to play catch up.  lol

I hope everyone is having an awesome week!!

  8. Gracious, you are getting a lot done! Do you find your speed is increasing? Say yes because that's what I'm hoping for myself! Beautiful work as always. I miss doll land so much. Soon. Soon. Must be patient.

    1. My speed is definitely increasing. I can turn a Barbie head out in 1-2 days while watching Netflix. However, I go a lot faster with just music and minimal interruption. You will get faster. Another tip is to pre-make 400-550 plugs before you start. Once everything is made you can just plug away instead of stopping and starting to make plugs (which eats a lot of time). I have seriously considered writing a re-rooting how to book. lol We miss you too!!! I keep sending good thoughts your way! *hugs*

  9. Like I said before, you are a weaving master! It seems Restoredoll is working well for you, although I can't figure out how much hair I need or how to order a regular bag of hair :(.

    1. Aw! Thanks Verona!! They really are working well, and I am about to try another website that is up and coming doll hair supplier located here: http://retrodollsus.weebly.com/ The owner is so helpful, and awesome!
As for restoredoll.com for a regular Barbie sized head you need 1-2 bags of the 18 inch skein. If you order a color it comes with 2 18 inch skeins of hair. I cut my skeins in 2-3 sections (6-8 inch sections) each and I have more than enough hair to re-root a good sized Barbie head. I only used 1 18 inch skein (1 bag) of hair on this doll: http://www.flickr.com/photos/adollaffinity/8260992660/in/photostream

Always make sure you aren't making your plugs too big so that you can stretch your hair further. (^_^)

The most cost effective way to order from restoredoll is the 10 skein special located here: http://stores.restoredoll.com/-strse-198/doll-hair/Detail.bok

You can get what you need and it costs less than ordering everything individually. It is generally the only way I buy hair from restoredoll.com unless I need something very unique.

I hope that helps!! Keep up the re-rooting! (^_^)

  10. "She's just a girl, and she's on fire
Hotter than a fantasy, longer like a highway
She's living in a world, and it's on fire
Feeling the catastrophe, but she knows she can fly away"

You spread your awesomeness in your works :) I love everything!!!

  12. I think i'll never be able to do it, it seems so complicated! Good Job!

    1. It is definitely something you need to be passionately creative about. That is what motivates me. If I sit down and think of the 400+ plugs the head needs, or the hours it will take, then I can't do it. But when I spend the entire time envisioning how much I will be pleased with the end result, and take time to enjoy learning new re-rooting techniques, then the time flies, and it is worth every second. I stand firm in telling you that you should try it!! (^_^) Thank you for the comment Acerico! You can do it!
