What the Flock?

Of my Homme collection, Rock Ringmaster Lukas is a definite favorite.
But his original flocking wasn't so great.
I didn't get a picture of the nightmare it had become.
Just imagine a flaky black mess with bald spots galore.
That about sums it up.

The above picture is what he looked like after all of his original flock was removed.
Underneath it was an even layer of dark brown paint.

I thought he would never be whole again.
Why?
Because he needed re-flocked in longer fibers.
Plus, I wanted a better glue than the run-of-the-mill water based stuff.

Then I discovered Flock Concepts.
He brought my Rock Ringmaster Lukas to life again.

I was floored when I saw what an amazing job he did.
Flocking long fibers, to achieve the spiked look, takes a special and unique technique.
It is applied differently than the powder flock many of us are accustomed to.
To see a neat video on how it is done, click here.

I encourage you to give Flock Concepts a try if you have a need for the spiked flock.
He responds to e-mails fast and is great at answering any questions you might have.
^_^

I don't know where else you can get such a great service for
$8.49 per head (+ $2.00 USD Return Shipping.)

Just to show a closeup of a job well done...

Now, onto a HUGE announcement!

I will be launching Episodes 1-5 of Doll Affinity's mini me series on Youtube
The links for each video will be found in the
tab at the top of this blog.

They will go live on March 28th.
^_^

Why did I do this after over a year and a half?
Because I will be posting Episode 6 on April 4th.
I have been hard at work this month to breathe life back into my storytelling.
I've missed it.
And it is REALLY happening this time.
I hope you will still give it a read or a watch.
<3

There will be updates about all of this and more in the coming 2 weeks.
Stay tuned....

  1. Impressive! It is a "kids, don't try this at home" kind of thing.

    1. My thoughts exactly! I wish I would have remembered to take a picture of what his original flock had disintegrated into. Thank goodness the doll community is equipped with good imaginations! ;)

  6. Beautiful! I have him too still in the box. I never understood who is his girlfriend, Giselle or Colette?

    1. Thank you! <3 I will never forget when I first bought him nrfb. Opening him for the first time was amazing. I don't know who his girlfriend is supposed to be either. I don't own a Giselle or a Collette, so he keeps himself freed up around here. lol ^_^

  8. He looks great! Great price too. I just decided not to attempt flocking a doll head, next time maybe I could have someone else do it.

    1. He is definitely a hidden gem. :) There is no shame in having someone else do work you don't feel comfortable attempting. This is one of those things I would rather have another person do. I just don't have the means to get that look and durability on my own. ^_^
